Callum Fowler believes the Invicta Dynamos have got to find more consistency if they are to be title challengers come the end of the season.
Last week saw the side beat Milton Keynes Thunder 12-0 at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham on Saturday night, before going on to lose 7-1 to the Chelmsford Chieftains just twenty four hours later.
That inconsistency has plagued the Dynamos all season despite a winning run of six games, with three losses in their past five outings damaging their title aspirations.
Fowler was instrumental in the side beating Milton Keynes and feels the side are close to capturing the level of form that’s required to get to the top of the table:
“We got ourselves in a good little run, winning six or seven games in a row, but it’s gone wrong a bit lately with people being injured and missing games, but I think we can bring it back.”
“The 12-0 was a game where we were hoping to get something out of. Chelmsford away is always going to be hard as we only had two lines and we kept up with them for two periods, but we just ran out of gas.”
“It’s not good when you are missing one of your guys, especially one of your imports (Justin Noble). He was needed and we could have done with three lines as they are a fast team.”
Fowler has shown at times how prolific he can be in front of goal, scoring three and creating three assists against Milton Keynes and told KSN how he is hoping to be more prolific for the last half of the season:
“It’s not been too bad, the last couple of games hasn’t been so good for me and I have got myself in a bit of a rut. I’m not scoring as much as I should be and I have been missing chances I should be putting away.”
“Hopefully I can get back on it like I was at the start of the season and help us win some games.”
Confidence plays a major part in any sport and on their day, the Dynamos look like world beaters, but when they’re lacking it, they have suffered this season and Fowler beleives it has been a major reason as to why the side have struggled at times:
“It’s a massive factor. We were on a high and as soon as you lose it is gone. You don’t feel it yourself, but you begin to notice the signs and I know some of the other boys have felt the same.”
“There’s been times where we should have been scoring and we’re not and a few weeks ago we definitely would have been.”
“It’s a case of getting that confidence back and getting a big win against Romford.”
That game against the Romford Raiders on Sunday night in Gillingham is the Dynamos only game for the next fortnight and Fowler is hoping the side can banish the memories of the loss at Chelmsford with a win this weekend:
“It’s a massive game and it’s always a good game against Romford. Going into Christmas time, we do need a win, especially with a nice week off after.”
“We can all rest a few injuries and then look to smash it over Christmas and move forward next year.”
