The Invicta Dynamos have confirmed that 20 year old forward Callum Fowler has rejoined the club and is in line to make his comeback for the side in the weekend’s games against the Milton Keynes Thunder and Streatham Redskins.
Callum Fowler first signed for the Dynamos in the summer of 2010 and was Head Coach Kevin Parrish’s first off-season acquisition ahead of the 2010/11 campaign. He arrived in Gillingham with an excellent pedigree having featured for the Peterborough Phantoms in their treble winning team of 2008/09 and having also represented the national side at all junior levels.
Then, at the start of 2010/11, Fowler was tempted into a move to the ENIHL and the Dynamos where his abilities made him a stand-out player and, over the course of the campaign, he had managed 28 goals and 48 assists for 76 points from 34 fixtures.
However, his season would be cut short as on and off ice issues began to affect the squad as a whole with Head Coach Kevin Parrish eventually opting to release the skater from his contract. Now though the 20 year old is back at the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham keen to make amends and to let his undoubted talent do the talking.
Speaking on his decision to re-sign Callum Fowler Kevin Parrish revealed that, having spoken with the forward, he saw the move as one that could benefit the side in the coming months.
Parrish said, “I’ve spoken to Callum about both his attitude and his team play and he has been one of the first to admit that he has things to prove and not just to the fans but to his teammates as well. Having talked to him in depth I’m in no doubt that he wants to be here and he is eager to get back underway and make his mark for the Dynamos in the ENIHL”.
Parrish then backed his latest capture to claim more positive headlines on his return when he said, “This is a second chance for Callum and I’m sure the supporters will give him the option of proving himself once again. We have given the same opportunity to others in the past and Callum seems determined to play a role in Gillingham after having some unfinished business here last time around”.
Finally the Head Coach commented on his new forward’s abilities when he added, “Putting all the history aside, I think Callum’s re-signing has the potential to be a great move for the club. His on ice talent has never been in doubt and, given that we had an excellent top class British player without a club just on our doorstep, signing him up again seemed a no brainer. Skill-wise he ranks amongst the best in the division and, with the improved attitude and maturity, he should be a fantastic asset for the Dynamos”.
