Following the success of the opening round of the inaugural Formula Four season last weekend it has been confirmed there will be a winter series of the event.
The event will take place in November and will comprise two venues Snetterton and Brands Hatch, with a total of eight races over the two weekends that the series will run.
It will start on the weekend of 9/10th November at Snetterton’s 300 circuit the fastest of the Nortfolk venues tracks. It will then conclude at Kent’s premier race circuit over the weekend of 23rd and 24th November.
Each event will feature a qualifying session of twenty minutes and then two races of 20 minutes, which will both on the Saturday and the Sunday. This means that there will be a qualifying session each day of the weekend and two races.
There will be a test day for the teams and drivers to use on the Thursday before the race weekend at each venue, so that they can get their cars prepared, then on Friday they can fine tune with a general test day with three hours track time.
Teams that are retaining their driver line-ups will be able to compete and get additional mileage for their 2013 teams ahead of the 2014 season, or test out potential new drivers for the new season.
Speaking about the decision to run a winter series, series director Jonathan Palmer, said: “”It is clear that BRDC F4 championship’s first full season is going to be a great success so the teams are keen to have a winter series both for current drivers continuing in 2014 and in order to evaluate new drivers.
“We have consulted with the teams regarding the format and are delighted with the resulting comprehensive package that will provide exceptional track time and value for drivers.”
