Former Kent seamer Charlie Shreck has joined fellow LV= County Championship Division Two side Leicestershire on a one-year deal.
Having been released by Kent in the summer after two years at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Shreck has taken the opportunity to join the Foxes, where he is likely to be used as a senior figure in the bowling attack; replacing Matthew Hoggard who left the county at the end of last season.
Shreck was Kent’s top Championship wicket-taker during his two successful years with the county, picking up 55 wickets at 26.43 in 2012 and 33 wickets at 39.21 in 2013.
Before moving to Canterbury, Shreck spent nearly 10 years at Nottinghamshire, during which time he took more than 400 wickets in all competitions.
Speaking about his new deal with Leicestershire, Shreck said: “I am really looking forward to a new challenge at Leicestershire. The opportunity to play a major role in the bowling attack and lend my experience to an exciting young squad is something that appeals to me and I can’t wait to play a part in helping the club move forward.”
