We are saddened to report that former Gillingham defender Dave Quirke has passed away.
The loveable Irishman who played in the centre of defence in the Gills side that were runners up in the old Division Four in 1974 settled in the Medway Towns and became a local taxi driver following his retirement.
Quirke represented the Gills on 230 occasions after being signed by Basil Hayward. He went on to play under Andy Nelson before leaving the club under Len Ashurst.
He was 72 and on behalf of all football fans in Kent, KSN send our condolences to his family and friends…
