Tyreece Webb scored the only goal as Forest Hill Park defeated SC Thamesmead in a Southern Counties East Football League Division One match.
It ended the hosts’ two game losing streak, however, it was not easy against an Acre side who certainly didn’t look like a team that is struggling.
Dominic Duvall’s cross was headed over by Andrea Carrera for Forest Park early on then Keanan Allassani nodded wide of the near post from Tyler Locuner’s centre at the other end.
Armand Grosha thought that he had put the home team ahead when he hooked home but Webb was offside earlier in the move and the goal was disallowed.
David Orisatoki shot well over for Thamesmead before Forest Hill went ahead. Carrera’s free kick was kept out by a full length diving save by Scott Harris but luck wasn’t with the goalkeeper as it came out off the inside of the post and fell kindly for Webb to bundle home from close range, despite the visitors’ appeals for offside.
Daniel Balogun might have made it two when he worked his way through but he shot just over before a sloppy pass out fell to Thamesmead’s Ben Newman whose first time shot whistled just wide with Matt Bailey struggling to get across.
One last chance fell Forest Hill’s way just before the break when a corner was not cleared but Azza Lawal lashed his effort over.
After the break, Forest Hill Park messed up a free kick from the half way line and Allassani chased after the quick pass forward. Bailey came out quickly. Although his clearance was charged down by the Acre’s striker, he was relieved to see it rebound to safety.
Midway through the second half Harris made a fine save from Carrera before Lawal was unable to hit the target when meeting Carrera’s corner.
Edi Borges replaced Allassani when he was cautioned having already spent ten minutes in the Sin Bin, and the substitute almost made an immediate impact. He was thwarted when Qaseem Sotanwa got across to made the crucial block. Then, as the striker he replaced had done, Borges also charged down a Bailey clearance but again it flew away with no harm done.
In stoppage time, there was a flashpoint with a bout of pushing and shoving but there were no further chances and Forest Hill park claimed the three points.
