2004 BDO World Darts Champion, Andy Fordham, has told Kent Sports News how he loved going to support the Invicta Dynamos.
The 53 year old from Dartford made his first ever visit to an ice hockey game on Sunday night as the Dynamos maintained second spot in the NIHL South with a comprehensive 7-2 victory over local rivals Streatham Redskins.
Having seen the Kent side come out on top in an entertaining game, the popular darts star told KSN how his visit came about and that he will definitely be back for more:
“It was a great game and they won which makes it even better. You can watch a load of sports on telly, but until you go and watch them, I don’t think you realise how fast they are and it’s unbelievable.”
“I would be very, very surprised if I don’t come back as they are a nice bunch of blokes, I was very honoured to give out Man of the match and as I say, hopefully I will be back.”
“I am very lucky that Chris (Chris White from club sponsor White & Associates) sponsors me a bit. I’ve got to know him, he’s a great bloke and his lovely lady Laura. They’ve said a few times about coming down and unfortunately it’s never worked out, but I am glad it has now because I really enjoyed it and I really want to come back.”
Fordham also paid tribute to the Invicta Dynamos fans for making it such a great atmosphere in the Gillingham rink and likened it to that of the events at darts tournaments:
“They were brilliant, they get right into it. I was sitting right near to Carlos and he gets the crowd going.”
“It’s a brilliant atmosphere and if you’ve never been before, you definitely want to come along.”
Check out Kent Sports News later in the week for another exclusive with Andy Fordham as he reveals his plans for the future and his hopes for a local Kent darts star.
