Invicta made a mockery of their recent form as they produced comfortably their best home performance of the season to thrash Bostik Premier Division rivals Leatherhead 5-1 in Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy first round tie at the Fullicks Stadium.
An on- fire Johan Ter Horst’s nearpost header gave them the lead from a seventh minute corner and the same player cracked home an excellent second goal midway through the first half.
Great work from striker/cum fullback Alfie Paxman put in in Kane Rowland for the third and at 3-0 ahead by half-time there was surely no way that Folkestone were going to lose this cup tie at the break.
The ever-determined Ade Yusuff added two more before the Tanners pulled a goal back too late to make any real difference, no matter what their noisy followers in the main stand believed.
Was this the turning point in Folkestone’s season? Who knows but they are in the draw for the second round and £3,250 better off thanks to the generous prize money from the sponsors of this major non-league knockout competition.
