Two goals inside the final five minutes gave Folkestone their first ever win over Dorking and extended their winning run to four games as they climbed one place up to sixth in the Bostik Premier Division.
Unconvincing referee Ollie Butcher’s fourth minute booking of Invicta’s leading scorer Ade Yusuff for what the official somehow saw as a dive hardly gave home fans confidence as the home side tried to recover from their dramatic midweek FA Trophy defeat on penalties by Leiston but Invicta had most of the first half possession.
They eventually broke the deadlock when Yusuff pushed the ball sideways and strike partner Ian Draycott lifted a splendid lob over former Hastings keeper Josh Pelling to give Folkestone the lead on 36 minutes.
Wanderers have a side packed full of attacking intent but had hardly shown up to that point but got back on terms five minutes later when a well struck cross from the right came back off the upright for ex-Woking star Giuseppe Sole to send the two sides in level on 1-1 at the break.
This was was by no means Folkestone’s best performance of the season but they still had enough about them to take charge in the final stages.
A well constructed build up ended with Scott Heard firing home his fifth goal of the season and second in as many games to restore the home side’s lead on 86 minutes.
The result was never seriously in doubt from that moment and the hard-working Yusuff slammed home a 90th minute penalty just to make sure of all three points for Invicta with his 11th goal of the season.
