Folkestone Invicta 2-3 Carshalton Athletic

Folkestone Invicta’s dismal run continued with another defeat that extended their losing streak to six losses out of the last seven in a game they appeared to have won at one stage.

Big player-manager Peter Adeniyi’s side took the lead through former Folkestone trialist Jerson dos Santos on 37 minutes but the home side levelled within seconds of the restart after the break when Ronnie Dolan finished well following a good team move.

When Johan Ter Horst cracked the ball past keeper Billy Bishop 16 minutes from time there were smiles back on the Folkestone faces for the first time in a long while, but further strikes from Daniel Pappoe (84) and Raheem Sterling-Parker with the match moving into stoppage time saw Folkestone slip one place further down the table while the Robbins flew up above them.

Sickening, though it was, home fans surely had to admire Sterling-Parker’s match winning effort which comes into the category of ‘a worldy’.

Defensive frailties in a depleted Invicta squad hardly helped, but this was another thoroughly disappointing result for Neil Cugley’s side who now take a break from the league with an FA Trophy visit by Leatherhead on Saturday, followed, barring a replay being needed of that game, by a home league cup tie against Sittingbourne next Tuesday.
