Gillingham will look to follow up Saturday’s excellent win at home to Ipswich Town with three more points at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.
Steve Evans’ side will travel north for the League One clash full of confidence after the 3-1 weekend win and know that a good end to the league campaign could yet see the Kent side nick a play-off berth.
An unchanged line up is expected for The Gills as Vadaine Oliver bagged a brace at the weekend and is being ably supported by the likes of Olly Lee, Jordan Graham and Kyle Dempsey.
Gillingham go into the game sitting 11th in League One, just five points outside the play-off places, whilst the home side are just four points worse off and sit 15th going into the game.
For Evans, the game will be a tough test, but one he is sure his players are up for:
“Fleetwood are in great form under Simon Grayson.”
“They won easily at Shrewsbury on Saturday and easily at Lincoln last week, so that clearly shows the size of our task.”
“Full of top players assembled at a big cost will, as I said, be tough for us but we must continue to focus on ourselves and that means being fully prepared as an individual and a team.”
A win on Tuesday night and Gills fans can dare to dream that a top six spot is within their grasp, lose and that may well be a little harder.
The back four of Jackson, Tucker, Cundy and Ogilvie are beginning to forge a real understanding at the back whilst going forward the goals are beginning to flow.
Who knows where The Gills will end up come the end of the campaign, but one thing’s for sure, following the club is rarely dull!
