Charlton journey to their most northerly destination of the season on Saturday to face Uwe Rosler’s Fleetwood.
The Fishermen were the surprise package of League One last season, and have got off to a decent start this time around.
Like the Addicks, Fleetwwod score plenty of goals, but concede more than their fair share as well.
Karl Robinson will include Mark Marshall and Ben Reeves in his League One squad for the first time, and had this to say on Thursday:
“They’re not fully fit (Marshall and Reeves). There is 15 minutes (Reeves) and 25 minutes (Marshall) in them but my thinking behind it is that they could have stayed behind and done some conditioning work but they will both play 50 minutes on Tuesday afternoon in a behind-closed-doors game against Ipswich.
“There are one or two things that are coming up and, with the Peterborough game now off, we have got a window of opportunity. I want them to be part of the team before that.
“When our top players look over to the bench and they see Mark Marshall and Ben Reeves ready to come on, that is an injection of real quality. The opposition manager will know who they are.
“We know that Been Reeves is as good as it gets and that Mark Marshall is one of the best wingers in this league. Them coming on for the last 15-20 minutes will be extremely difficult for the opposition. That is what we are extremely looking forward to.”
The Ipswich game Robinson mentioned is the first of three behind-closed-doors friendlies his team will play before the Doncaster game on 14 October.
Robinson also revealed that he has two more injured players who will not play at Fleetwood:
“We have two injuries already, I’m not going to tell you who they are now,” said the gaffer.
Billy Clarke suffered a back spasm in the Bury game, and was taken off early at Walsall, so he may be one of the absentees.
Ahmed Kashi could be the other. He has played a lot of football since returning from a near two year absence from the game.
Chris Solly is another who has to be monitored during busy spells.
Charlton could line up like this:
Amos; Solly, Konsa, Bauer, Dasilva; Aribo, Forster-Caskey, Fosu, Ahearne-Grant, Holmes; Magennis.
Subs: Phillips, Dijksteel, Jackson, Sarr, Reeves, Marshall, Dodoo.
The referee will be Seb Stockbridge from Tyne & Wear.
This game is difficult to predict, but there should be goals in it. If the Addicks make more of their opportunities, they could end their winless streak.
