Kent’s Jake Dixon got his season back on track with his first podium of the Moto 2 season at the Catalan Grand Prix at the weekend.
The Dover born racer climbed from eleventh position to third and in doing so scored his first points of the season.
The management of the tyres was key in the race and Dixon adapted to the circuit conditions well to be on the podium for the first time since his 2023 Catalan GP win. It is a welcome return to the podium for Dixon after having a nightmare start to the season. Hopefully things are starting to turn around in his favour.
Speaking after the weekend, Dixon said: “I have suffered a lot, but we knew that the tide had to change. The bad times had to pass. The season did not start well, I had a huge crash and everything seemed to be against us. In today’s race, tyre management has been key.
“I knew that everything was going to be decided in the last eight laps and that my pace and my way of working with the tyre were good. I have had to be smart, it has been difficult and I did not want to risk too much. It has been a great race and I have enjoyed it a lot.”
