Kent Cricket have announced the signing of Harry Finch on a contract that will run until at least the end of the 2024 season.
The 27-year-old first featured for the county during 2021’s Canterbury Cricket Week, coming to the Club’s aid to ensure that their LV= Insurance County Championship match against Sussex was able to go ahead.
Playing against his former side, Finch scored a second-innings 115 on debut to ensure that Kent secured a draw on the final day.
He was then a part of the Kent Spitfires side that defeated Middlesex by 77 runs at Lord’s to secure a home Quarter Final in the Spitfires’ victorious 2021 Vitality Blast season.
The right-hander went on to make eight appearances for Kent in 2021’s Royal London Cup (RLC), scoring 152 runs in seven innings.
Returning to the Club for the 2022 RLC, he was a part of the side that helped Kent lift a List A trophy for the first time since 1978 – averaging over 38.60.
Finch has also kept wicket for & captained the Second XI this season.
On joining Kent permanently, Finch said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Kent, I’ve absolutely loved playing here over the last couple of seasons.
“To win a trophy and now sign permanently has topped off a special couple of months.
“It’s personally been a challenging couple of years for me trying to get back in the game, so for Kent to give me this opportunity, I feel very grateful and honoured. I can’t wait to get started and I’m looking forward to helping the Club win matches and more trophies.”
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “Harry has made a really positive impact whenever he has had the opportunity to play for us and he fully deserves the chance to join the Club on a full-time contract.
“He is a mature and enthusiastic character who has the ability to bat anywhere from 1 to 7 in the order, in all formats of the game.’’
