Faversham Town got out of jail in a mad 15 minutes when they went from two down to four two up when Ramsgate were controlling the game.Faversham Town

The first chance of this Kent derby came in the 3rd minute when Aaron Millbank found himself in the area alone & his shot from 10 yards was tipped away for a corner by Simon Overland.

Ramsgate took the lead in the 18th minute when Maculay Murray on the right wing crossed low into the path of Millbank who from 15 yards saw his shot deflected by Ashley Brown past Overland.

Ramsgate were now dominating possession & the game, they went two up in the 32nd minute when Murray’s free kick from 25 yards out went into the top right hand corner.

It could have been worse for Faversham as two minutes later a long ball forward caught Brown out & Ian Pulman 25 yards out saw his shot go wide of the post, another chance went in the 38th minute when Millbank running forward passed to the overlapping Jack Parter who crossed to the back post for Andrew Miller but his header went across goal instead of at goal & was cleared.

In the 43rd minute Faversham against the run of play scored when Darren Marsden’s free kick from 25 yards out flew into the top left hand corner leaving Daren Hawkes grasping at air.

The excitement at Salters Lane went wild when in the 2nd minute of added on time when Faversham equalised & what a scrappy goal it was but they would not care, a corner came into the area & a scramble occurred & Aiden Sherlock two yards out knocked it into the net.

The half time whistle went & the Ramsgate manager Tim Dixon must have been distraught as his team dominated the game but came in level whilst the Faversham Manager must have been delighted as his team had not performed but were level.

The second half started with the momentum with Faversham & they bought on Jamie Maxted, Brendon Cass & Luke Harvey which changed the game & in the 50th minute they took the lead when a corner was flicked on by Maxted goal wards & Harvey only on for 5 minutes stabbed home from 2 yards, then three minutes later it was four when a free kick into the area was half cleared to Harvey wide on the left & his shot from 18 yards on the angle beat Hawkes at his near post.

Ramsgate were shocked by this but credit to them they kept going & in the 59th minute a cross to the back post saw David Pilcher’s header beat Overland but not John Scarborough who cleared it off the line.

In 68th minute it got worse for Ramsgate as Tim Dixon was sent off for dissent to the referee.

The game was over in the 74th minute when Aaron Lacey’s cross to the back post found Dave Botterill 8 yards out on his own & his powerful header hit the back of the net. The game petered out with Faversham eventually worthy winners.
