Holmesdale were blown away by an impressive Faversham Town side as they moved back top of the SCEFL Premier Division at Salters Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The game started quickly for Faversham as in the second minute a long throw into the Holmesdale area saw Danny Parrish’s header saved by Tommy Taylor.
Holmesdale got their first half chance in the eighth minute when a ball into the area found Wale Odedoyin, but his shot was saved by Jacob Russell, a minute later Odedoyin saw his header from eight yards go wide.
Then in the 13th minute Faversham settled their nerves when they took the lead, when Parish collected a long ball and went into the area jinking in and out before shooting home from eight yards.
Two minutes later Kieron Campbell 25 yards saw his shot go just past the post and then in the 17th minute Nathan Wood on the right crossed into the area where Parish rose, but his flicked header went past the post.
In the 21st minute Faversham should have doubled their lead when Parish put Wood through on goal but once in the area his shot was saved by Taylor.
Faversham were now creating chances and a minute later Johan Caney-Brown ran from halfway and his shot from 20 yards flew past the post. In the 27th minute Faversham doubled their lead when Parish put Wood through in the area and from 12 yards shot past Taylor.
In the 30th minute some nice interplay saw the ball end up at Caney-Brown’s feet and his shot flew over the bar. In the 44th minute Faversham trebled their lead when a ball floated into the area was half cleared but only to Wood who shot home from 15 yards.
It could have been worse for Holmesdale as in the first minute of added on time a long ball forward was flicked on by Caney-Brown and Parish out muscled the defender but from 12 yard he shot over the bar. Half time arrived and it looked like game over for Faversham while Holmesdale would be playing for pride.
The second half continued with Faversham in total charge and in the 46th minute Sam Hasler saw his 20-yard effort saved by Taylor.
In the 53rd minute Campbell had his 20-yard shot saved but a minute later it was four when Caney-Brown in the area saw his eight-yard shot go in.
Two minutes later a long throw into the area eventually came to Hasler who six yards out saw his header saved by Taylor. On the hour mark it became five when a cross into the area found Parish six yards out on his own head in.
Faversham were now in so much control you wondered if they were going to goal crazy, chances came and the Holmesdale goal survived, in the 68th minute Tommie Fagg was put through and from an acute angle his shot was saved by Taylor.
Hasler was determined to score and in the 75th minute his 25-yard shot went just past the post then two minutes later he tried his luck again, but it went wide.
In the 79th minute Campbell saw his 20-yard shot saved by Taylor. It should have been six when Fagg put Rolande Onu through but from 12 yards he shot wide.
In the 85th minute Faversham thought they had got their sixth when Jack Parter saw his 20-yard shot pushed out by Taylor but straight to Onu who stabbed it home but the Flag went up for offside and with no VAR to discuss, the goal was chalked off.
The final whistle went and all off the Faversham crowd were exstatic with the performance but then hearing VCD had only drawn.
