Faversham Town 3-1 Stansfeld
Faversham Town 3-1 Stansfeld

Faversham Town got back to winning ways against a very good Stansfeld side on Saturday afternoon. Tommy Warrilow stated before the game he wanted three points and did not mind how he got what he wished for with a very good performance.

Faversham got off to a flying start when in the second minute Tariq Ossai went down the right wing and his cross into the area found Johan Caney-Bryan who from six yards out headed home.

Five minutes later a headed clearance was knocked out to Nathan Wood who from 20 yards saw his shot go over the bar. In the 15th minute Faversham should have doubled their lead when a long ball down the left channel saw Caney-Brown chase it down beat the onrushing Tom Crump who ended up fouling him in the area. A penalty was awarded, and Crump was booked, up stepped Sam Hasler, he hit it to the bottom left-hand corner, but Crump got down and tipped it onto the post. The ball came back out Hasler reacted quickly and from an acute angle hit his shot into the side netting.

Would this come back to haunt them? In the 19th minute Stansfeld equalised when a corner to the back post found Ibrahim Barrie, he controlled it and fired home from three yards.

The game started to ebb and flow with both sides causing problems then in the 35th minute another glorious chance came Faversham’s way when Ossai down the right crossed into the area for Frannie Collin, but his header went straight at Crump who saved easily.

In the 39th minute Caney-Bryan saw his shot from six yards go over the bar and in the 42nd minute a ball into the area saw numerous shots blocked, then Callum Davies saw his shot from close range saved.

The second half was only four minutes old when Faversham took the lead again when Bradley Simms went down the left wing, his low cross evaded everyone except Caney-Bryan at the far post as he stabbed it home from three yards, now could Faversham hold on to this lead.

In the 52nd minute Stansfeld had a glorious chance to equalise when a free kick to the back post found Chris Alhassan but from five yards he headed wide.

Four minutes later Faversham got away with it when a free kick from 20 yards hit straight at goal saw Jacob Russell fumble it and a few attempts at goal were blocked and then cleared.

In the 61st minute Kieron Campbell saw his 25-yard shot pushed around the post by Crump, then three minutes later they scored again when a corner to the back post saw Tashi-Jay Kwayle head in from three yards.

The game now drifted along but fair play to Stansfeld who tried to get back in the game and they had the last chance of the game in the third minute of added on time when a free kick into the area was headed goal wards, but Russell pushed it away for a corner. The final whistle went, and Faversham have kept up the pressure on VCD.
