Faversham Town 3-0 Sittingbourne
Faversham Town 3-0 Sittingbourne

Faversham Town beat their Swale rivals to reach their first Ryman League Cup Final with a comprehensive victory.

Faversham

They now go to Colston Avenue, home of Carshalton Athletic to play Premier League side Kingstonian.

The game started slowly but eventually Faversham took control over a Sittingbourne side with six of their squad cup tied, in the 19th minute Ryan Cooper combined with Charlie Robertson and his shot from 15 yards was saved by Adam Molloy.

In the 22nd minute a Luke Harvey long ball saw Liam King get behind the defence and Molloy came rushing out of his area and fouled him but only received a yellow card, the free kick that followed by George Monger was easily saved by Molloy.

Three minutes later Faversham took the lead when Daniel Carrington picked the ball up 30 yards from his goal and launched a long ball for Harvey who controlled it took the defender on & rifled his shot past Molloy.

Ten minutes later it was two when Cooper 30 yards out slid the ball into the path of Liam King who from 10 yards shot home.

The second half started well for Sittingbourne as in the 49th minute Miles Cornwall was fouled in the area and a penalty was given, up stepped Stefan Wright but his poor effort was saved by Will Godmon, this was their first shot on target.

In the very next minute it was nearly three as a long ball down the right saw King latch onto it and his shot from 15 yards was acrobatically pushed away for a corner by Molloy, and from the resulting corner it was three as the ball into the area was bouncing around before Robertson 12 yards out shot through a load of players and it hit the back of the net.

Faversham were now in total control and in the 75th minute it nearly became four when King was set free on the right and he ran forward before then passing into the path of fellow forward Harvey whose first time shot from 15 yards just went past the post.

As the game went into added on time, Sittingbourne had their second shot on target when the ball into the area found Cornwall and his shot was saved by Godmon.

The final whistle went and Faversham could celebrate a great victory which in truth saw them only have to be in second gear as Sittingbourne did not seem to be at the races.
