Faversham moved up to fourth place in the table with this emphatic victory over Peacehaven who until today had not lost away from home.
It was nearly a different sorry when in the 1st minute a long ball forward found Tom Lawley & ran into the area but shot wide under pressure.
As both sides looked at each other nothing much was happening Aaron Lacey passed to Luke Harvey’s feet & he turned the defender & his stabbed shot was easily saved from 8 yards.
In the 21st minute Dave Botterill cross to the far post was cleared for a corner by Ash Jones & from the resulting Wayne Wilson corner into the penalty area a deflected header came back of the post.
Three minutes later another glorious chance came when Harvey was put through in the area & his shot was saved by Antony Dibernardo’s legs & it came out for Harvey who passed out wide to Darren Marsden but his cross shot went past the post.
In the 26th minute Lawley on the left crossed low for Jamie Brotherton & his shot was saved by Simon Overland.
For the rest of the half Faversham created chance after chance as in 35th minute a free kick flicked on went to Harvey whose flicked shot was saved by Dibernardo, then 2 minutes later Overland launched a kick up field for Harvey who controlled it & shot but was easily saved.
In the 42nd minute again Harvey had the chance to open his & Faversham’s account but his flicked shot was saved by the keeper. Faversham finally took the lead when Harvey on the edge of the area beat 2 defenders got to the by-line & his low cross was diverted into his own goal by Ash Jones.
Again Peacehaven came out of the blocks the quickest when in the 46th minute Lawley on the edge of the area passed to Brotherton whose shot was tipped over the bar for a corner by Overland & from the resulting corner saw the ball ricochet around the area before being cleared, Faversham definitely needed another goal to help with the nerves & in the 58th minute Marsden received the ball 25 yards out & turned & shot but it went wide.
In the 67th minute Peacehaven nearly equalised when a Brotherton free kick from 25 yards out beat the wall & bounced awkwardly for Overland who was able to push over the bar.
Faversham were now bossing the game & in the 69th minute a long throw from Lacey into the area saw Harvey leap up but headed wide.
In the 72nd minute Faversham increased their lead when a Wilson corner to the back post found Jamie Maxted who from 3 yards headed into the empty net.
They finished Peacehaven off in the 77th minute when Marsden won the ball in midfield ran forward & into the area where he shot but Dibernalgo came out & saved it but it came out to Renford Tenyue who from 10 yards shot in via the post.
