Faversham lost two points as two contentious decisions went against them in a game where the windy conditions proved a hinderance to both teams.
The game started with Phoenix Sports on the attack and in the sixth minute Lewis Clark saw his cross into the area find Jack Hopkins but his header was saved by Luke Watkins.
Eight minutes later Jeff Duah Kessie’s snapshot from 10 yards went just wide of the Faversham post.
Faversham eventually worked their way into the game and in the 22nd minute Tom Loynes free kick on the edge of the area was tipped over the bar by Steven Phillips. Moments later Anthony Adesite headed over the bar from eight yards.
The first contentious decision came in the 28th minute when Phillips saw his long kick out bounce just before the area & Duah Kessie jumped and challenged Watkins for the ball. Watkins lost the ball allowing Duah Kessie the easy task of shooting into an empty net.
Faversham went wild as they questioned the decision but the Referee Nick Dunn gave it on the advice of his assistant.
Faversham equalised in the 37th minute when a Loynes free kick to the back post found Adesite who this time headed into the goal.
Three minutes before half time Faversham had the chance to go ahead when Adesite crossed into the area where Luke Griffiths flicked it on for Loynes but his volley from 15 yards went nearer the corner flag than the goal.
In the first minute off added on time Hopkins saw his 20 yards effort go just over the bar.
The second half saw Faversham start the stronger and in the 52nd minute they got a deserved goal when a Lewis Chambers long throw caused panic in the Sports defence and it was flicked on for Adesite to head in.
Eight minutes later another long throw was partially cleared to Loynes on the edge of the area but his shot went just over the bar. Faversham were now looking safe for the three points but got lucky in the 72nd minute when Watkins cleared off the line.
Faversham should have scored a third in the 77th minute when Loynes crossed from the by-line and Kelvin Ogboe unmarked, headed wide.
Sports were to punish Faversham for that miss although it came in contentious circumstances. Lauris Chin was fouled on the edge of the area and a penalty was awarded. The decision caused a melee but Kehinde Aileru wasnt distracted by it all as he levelled the game up from the spot.
