Faversham Town 2-0 Peacehaven & Telscombe
Faversham Town 2-0 Peacehaven & Telscombe

Faversham’s manager Ray Turner got the positive response from his team after last week’s horror show when his team emphatically beat Peacehaven to edge closer to the Play off positions.

Faversham

Faversham completely controlled the game from the first minute until the last with the only criticism that they only scored two goals. They got off to a great start when in the 4th minute they took the lead when George Monger & Luke Harvey combined & passed to Charlie Robertson on the right wing & he cut inside beating two defenders & shot home from 18 yards.

In the 14th minute they nearly increased their lead when Monger passed to Robertson who chipped into the area for Ryan Cooper to get to & stretching for it saw him shoot went just wide. Another chance came in the 23rd minute when Dan Carrington running forward from halfway passed the ball out to the right wing where Renford Tenyue was & his low cross found Josh Stanford 20 yards out but he miskicked it & it arrived at Harvey’s feet & his shot looked like it was creeping into the corner but James Shaw got his leg to it to concede a corner.

In the last minute of the half Stanford found himself free & his pass to Tenyue saw him chance his luck from 20 yards but it went just past the post.

The second half continued with Faversham in charge & in the 52nd minute another chance went a begging when the ball into the Peacehaven box saw numerous shots on goal blocked until Robertson but his shot from 6 yards was saved by Shaw, in the very next minute Faversham doubled their lead when Jamie Maxted’s shot from outside the area was pushed away by Shaw & Tenyue reacted the quickest & shot home.

Shaw was busy again two minutes later when Stanford on the left wing went into the area twisting & turning saw his shot saved by Shaw’s legs. In the 63rd minute another glorious chance went when Robertson’s superb cross field pass found Stanford & his curling effort from just inside the box went past the post.

The last real chance of the game came in the 74th minute when a ball into the area saw Harvey challenging Shaw for the ball & beating him to it but unfortunately it went just past the post.

The final whistle went & the Faversham team came off with probably one of their easiest games of the season while Peacehaven have got a real battle to stay up.
