Faversham lost to their East Sussex Rivals but after 23 minutes they should have been out of sight but bad finishing has cost them; Hastings grew in to the game and in the end won it by finishing off their chances.
The home side came out of the blocks quickly as in the 6th minute Ben Chapman who joined on loan from Gillingham on the right crossed into the area for Luke Harvey15 yards out & his volley was saved by Charlie Horlock.
Five minutes later Bola Dawodu out muscled Adam Lovett went into the area & his shot from 15 yards went past the post. A minute later & Faversham took the lead when Simon Overland’s long clearance came down for Harvey who from 25 yards saw his shot saved by Horlock’s legs but came straight back to Harvey who from 12 yards shot home.
At this stage Hastings seemed to be still in the changing rooms but in the 23rd minute Antonio Walker-Barth running into the area saw his shot go just past the post, then in the next minute Faversham had a glorious chance to increase their lead when Danny Walder’s free kick was flicked on by Harvey for Dawodu but from 6 yards his attempted volley went wide when if he had hit it cleanly it would probably be in the net.
In the 39th minute Hastings nearly equalised when Davide Rodari’s free kick from 30 yards hit the wall rebounded back to him & then from 25 yards his shot was pushed over the bar by Overland for a corner. Half time was approaching & 2 minutes off added on time was shown, Hastings were now throwing everything at Faversham & in the 2nd minute off added on time they equalised when a ball into the area crossed low to the far post where Sinakaye Christie two yards out knocked the ball into net.
The half time whistle went 30 seconds later & now both Managers team talks would be different.
In the very first minute of the half Faversham had a great chance to go back in front when a free kick into area found Dawodu who passed out wide to Ollie Lee who returned it back to Dawodu but from 8 yards he blasted it over the bar.
In the 56th minute Hastings took the lead in similar circumstances as Faversham’s goal, Walker-Barth on the right saw his cross get deflected of Matt Bourne forcing Overland to push it onto the bar & Rodari reacted the quickest & shot home from 10 yards. Faversham’s heads went for a while but to be fair to them they tried to get back into the game.
In the 73rd minute Dawodu passed it into the path of Harvey who was just about to shoot when a defender managed to deflect it away for a corner. Hastings were now in control & relied on counter attacks, the game had six minutes off added on time & in the very last minute Renford Tenyue on the left crossed into the area where Liam King was & his flicked header went agonisingly wide. A few seconds later the full time whistle went.
