Faversham’s new manager Tommy Warrilow saw his first home game end up with a loss against league leaders Glebe who apart from five minutes were the better side and increased their lead at the top of the table.
The game started with a bang as Faversham nearly took the lead within 13 seconds as Nathan Wood ran into the area & his shot was half saved by Nathan Edwards and Stefan Payne the League’s top scorer saw his back heel saved and cleared.
In the 3rd minute Warren Mfula saw his eight yard effort go just past the post, two minutes clatter Billy Bingham saw his 30 yard effort go past the post.
At this time Faversham were in total control but Glebe eased their way back into the game after the electric start by Faversham.
In the 15th minute Rodney Eruotor 18 yards out saw his shot pushed away by Lewis Briggs. In the 30th minute Malachi Morris saw his 20 yard effort tipped onto the bar by Briggs for a corner, Glebe were now growing into the game but Faversham were still having chances.
Five minutes later a cross to the back post found Payne, his shot went just past the post then two minutes later a free kick into the area saw Edwards miss his punch misdirected out and Connor Essam retrieved it crossed back into the area where Matt Newman directed his header goal wards but Jamie Philpot headed off the line.
A minute later Glebe should have taken the lead when Jason Banton got to the by-line & his cross into the area found Eruotor but from 8 yards on his own he headed wide when it looked easier to score.
Half time arrived without any added time and both managers would have had different emotions, Tommy would have wanted more from his side while Danny Oakins would want his team to make the final ball better.
Glebe came out with purpose and in the 48th minute they took the lead when Banton’s free kick into the area found Philpot who from 10 yards unopposed headed past Briggs.
Faversham suddenly woke up and in the 53rd minute nearly equalised when a free kick into the area saw Payne beat Edwards to it and Mfula latched onto it his shot was cleared off the line.
Glebe doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Banton’s free kick saw Reece Barrett side foot it past Briggs from eight yards.
Faversham were stunned by this and although they tried to get back into the game they huffed & puffed without causing Glebe any problems and the final whistle went, the majority of the crowd were stunned as their team were now four points behind Glebe, the rest of the season could be a tense one.
