Faversham put on a valiant display against Chipstead but came away pointless. Chipstead had a lot of pace in their team & in the end that proved the difference. Faversham also had Simon Overland sent off which was a bit contentious & after going to the F.A midweek to discuss their disciplinary problems is all they needed.

The game started with Chipstead having the first chance in the 2^nd minute when Liam McDevitt got to the by-line & his shot nearly caught Overland out but he managed to parry it away. Three minutes later a ball forward saw Luke Harvey head forward & he got to it first & put Harry Stannard through on goal & his shot from 15 yards was parried away by Michael Sibley for a corner & from the resulting corner to the back post Luke Griffiths stretching for it saw his tapped shot saved at the second attempt by Sibley.

Chipstead were starting to create chances as in the 19^th minute Leon Lalor-Dell on the left crossed low into the area & Michael Campbell running onto it shot just wide then 2 minutes later Campbell was put through in the area & his first shot was blocked but came back to him & his shot looped over Overland into the net.  Chipstead’s confidence rose after this & had two more chances to increase their lead, in the 29^th minute Lalor-Dell’s free kick was headed over the bar from 10 yards by Dean Gunner & then two minutes later Campbell latch onto a loose ball ran forward & saw his shot from 20 yards go just past the post.

In the 39^th minute Luke Harvey tried his luck from 25 yards but saw his shot go just wide & a minute later Harvey laid the ball into the path of Stannard but his shot from 15 yards was easily saved by Sibley.

Half time arrived & again Ray Turner would have a difficult team talk which this season seems to be the normal whilst the Chipstead Manager Anthony Williams would want more of the same if not be a bit more clinical.

The second half saw Faversham come out with more fight in them & in the 46^th minute a Ryan Cooper cross from the left to the back post found Stannard whose header went just wide then a minute later a Ashley Miller cross was flicked on goal wards until Sam Page reacted quickly & headed out for a corner.

Three minutes later a Cooper long throw into the area saw Matt Bourne’s flicked header saved. In the 52^nd minute came the contentious decision when Campbell racing towards goal with Dan Carrington saw Overland come out & foul him on the edge of the area & after discussion with the Assistant gave a free kick & sent Overland off. Substitute goalkeeper Tom Benham came on for Luke Griffiths & the first thing he had to do was save the free kick.

Chipstead were now in control but Faversham kept themselves in the game & relied on counter attacks. In the 59^th minute Dylan Cascoe running towards goal passed into the path of McDevitt who from 15 yards saw his shot go wide. A minute later a McDevitt cross into the area found Dean Lodge whose acrobatic volley saw Benham save.

The game saw Chipstead going forward & causing the Faversham defence a few scares whilst Faversham continued to try & get back into the game without really causing many problems then in the 80^th minute it was definitely game over as Matthew Males received the ball on the overlap & from the by-line crossed to the penalty spot where Jake Robinson was & his volley beat Benham.

This seemed to deflate Faversham & in the 90^th minute it nearly became three when a cross into the area found Tobi Adaje & from 12 yards he saw his shot come back off the cross bar.

The final whistle went & Chipstead go back to Crawly with the three points deserved while Faversham go back to the drawing board although they didn’t play that badly.
