On a wet & windy day football would be at a premium as both sides new they would have to fight hard to get the victory.
Walton kicking with the wind in their favour had the first chance of the game when in the 9th minute a free kick to the far post found Malachi Hudson on his own & he laid the ball back into the path of Simon Huckle who from 20 yards shot over the bar.
Faversham replied in the very next minute when Aaron Lacey’s corner was cleared back to him & his cross into the area was headed down for Jamie Maxted who from 8 yards saw his side footed effort saved by Kieran Sanderson.
Faversham had a glorious chance to take the lead in the 18th minute when a long ball out to the right found Luke Harvey who controlled it & laid the ball into the path of Brendon Cass in the area & from 15 yards his shot was saved by Sanderson’s legs for a corner.
Walton came back & in the 20th minute a corner was half cleared but only to Samuel Labinjo & his shot with the outside of the boot flew over the bar & then in the 23rd minute Gabriel Odunaike in the area was just about to shoot when Matt Bourne came across & slide tackled him.
In the very next minute Casuals took the lead when Lee Hall was in the area alone & from 15 yards he stroked the ball through a crowd of players into the net & in the very next minute it could have been worse for Faversham as Bourne fouled Hall in the area conceding a penalty, up stepped Conner French & he shot was saved by Simon Overland who pushed it onto the post & as it came across the line pounced on it before anyone else.
Faversham had two near chances firstly in the 35th minute when Overlands’ long kick found Cass who from 20 yards shot just over the bar & then right on half time Harvey on the right cut inside beating two defenders & went into the area & he was just about to shoot when a defender came across & clipped it away for a corner.
The second half was not much of a spectacle as the wind & rain spoiled the game & there were only a few chances of note, first in the 56th minute a Casuals corner was headed wide by Gary MacDonald, then in the 64th minute Aiden Sherlock crossed into the area where Harvey’s flicked header was cleared of the line.
The last half chance of the game came in the 66th minute when Harvey on the left cut in & his shot was deflected for a corner.
As the game wore on Faversham huffed & puffed but could not get the equaliser whilst Casuals counter attacking when they could without causing any problems.
