Faversham Town got their season up and running with a hard earned point against title favourites Hastings United but could have won it and then lost it.

The first half started with Hastings having the first half chance of the game when in the 2^nd minute a Oliver Black long throw into the area saw Knory Scott head wide from 8 yards.

The game went a bit sterile as both sides gave the ball away & then in the 24^th minute Faversham had a glorious chance to take the lead when a free kick by Luis Dos Santos quickly taken put Aziz Lyoubi in on the left wing & he got to the by-line before crossing low towards Matt Bourne but he was fouled & a penalty was given, up stepped skipper Harry Harding but his weak shot was easily saved by Louis Rogers.

This woke Hastings up & in the 33^rd minute Black’s long throw into the area forced Luke Watkins to push it onto the bar & then cleared, five minutes later Ryan Worrall just in his own half saw Watkins of his line & his chipped shot forced Watkins to back track & push it around the post.

Half time arrived & Faversham would probably been the happier.

The second half saw Faversham have a lot of the ball without causing many problems & the first half chance came in the 75^th minute when a corner into the 6 yard box saw Aaron Ibe unopposed head wide, in the very next minute Raheem Sterling-Parker on the edge of the area saw his shot saved by Watkins.

The game was drawing to a close with nil nil written all over it when in the 6^th minute off added on time a long ball forward saw Aaron Capon fouled in the area & a penalty was given, up stepped Worrall to win the game for Hastings but his weak effort was easily saved by Watkins & the final whistle went a few seconds later.
