It was a second consecutive goalless draw on the road for Welling United as they claimed a point at Farnborough.
On Saturday, they had drawn at Hungerford Town and they followed it up with a point on a chilly Tuesday evening in Hampshire.
In the opening exchanges Myles Roberts made an outstanding save from Harry Parsons unaware that the offside flag was up before Selim Saled almost got in behind but was crowded out and unable to get a shot away.
Parsons then burst through down the right hand from Jonathan Page’s long pass but no team mate was able to make up the ground to support him and he blasted over with the angle against him.
Ricky Holmes tried his luck with a free kick that took a wicked bounce and Roberts reacted superbly to slap it away.
Saled then took advantage of a defensive lapse but Roberts got down well to save before Jordan Norville-Williams hurled in a long throw that Freddie Young nodded on to Jack Ball but his header was claimed comfortably by the Welling goalkeeper.
Former Wing Kevin Lokko almost broke the deadlock when he chested down a diagonal free kick and spun and shot in one movement only to see his volley clatter the crossbar.
Stefan Payne finally registered a goal attempt for the Wings just before half time but his effort from the best part of forty yards went wide.
Four minutes after the break Ade Azeez had to be withdrawn and replaced by Aaron Barnes but it didn’t stop Welling from growing into the game. Rob Howard had a shot deflected wide before Anthony Papadopoulos sent Payne through but his effort with the outside of his boot flew wide.
Payne was again played in, this time by Amadou Kassarate, but Jack Turner got down to make an excellent save before Papadopoulos hit a shot on the turn that was deflected wide.
At the other end, Parsons got in behind and tried a first time lob but he didn’t get enough loft on it and it went straight to Roberts.
Barnes hit a shot from twenty-five yards that appeared to deceive Turner and he was relieved to see it go just beyond the far post then Kassarate shot across the face of goal and Ball had to be alert to clout it away.
Taylor Maloney delivered a free kick that Kassarate headed to Papadopoulos whose volley was blocked then Barnes headed over from Chi Ezennolim’s cross.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Farnborough were gifted a great opportunity to break the deadlock against the run of play. Barnes brought down Saled on the edge of the area but referee Dale Wootton decided it was inside and pointed to the spot. He was persuaded to confer with an assistant but did not change his mind before some pushing and shoving ended with three players cautioned.
When all had died down, Norville-Williams took the responsibility but Roberts guessed correctly and palmed the shot away.
Saled worked his way to the bye-line and pulled it back but it went behind the forwards before Welling’s mounting injury list was worsened when Papadopoulos had to be replaced by Manny Parry.
There were no further chances despite five minutes of stoppage time and the game ended in a stalemate.
