Despite the 2019/2020 competition still not being won, the draw for the First two Qualifying Rounds of next season Buildbase FA Trophy has been made, and for two Kent clubs, their second “Road to Wembley” will start three weeks earlier than their nearest rivals.
Steve Watts’ Hythe Town, and Lloyd Blackman’s Whitstable Town are the unlucky sides as they are the only Kent sides drawn in the First Qualifying round as Hythe will welcome Chalfont St Peter to Reachfields, and Whitstable will play Ashford Town (Middx) at the Belmont on Saturday 26th September.
The Cannons will be desperate to progress as in the draw for the Second Qualifying Round – to be played Saturday 17th October – the winners of the tie will face a home tie with Ashford United – which could potentially be one of the ties of the round, whilst the Oystermen’s “reward” will be a trip to face Hullbridge Sports. Other highlights include Ramsgate hosting Canvey Island and the all Kent tie as VCD host Herne Bay.
The full “Kent” draw is as follows; Sittingbourne v East Grinstead Town; Phoenix Sports v Marlow; Hullbridge Sports v Whitstable Town or Ashford Town (Middx); VCD Athletic v Herne Bay; 3 Faversham Town v Hertford Town; Ramsgate v Canvey Island; Whyteleafe v Cray Valley (PM); Bracknell Town v Sevenoaks Town and Hythe Town or Chalfont St Peter v Ashford United
