Southern Counties East Football League action returns on Friday night when Erith Town entertain Phoenix Sports in a local derby.
Adam Woodward has had a busy summer as he looks to improve on the Dockers’ healthy seventh place finish last season. He has kept the core of last year’s squad and has brought in fresh faces including two new goalkeepers.
He will be keen to continue to develop the young players coming through the age groups, some who are now regular first team members.
For Phoenix Sports’ manager Steve O’Boyle, it’s a different challenge. After a disastrous start to last season, he almost pulled off a miraculous recovery, however the Sports were relegated from the Isthmian League. They have also kept a number of players and their newcomers include the experienced Ryan Hayes and Dave Martin.
It will be an interesting evening for both managers as they have both worked for both clubs together.
Kick-off is at 7.30pm on Friday 29th July at the Erith Stadium and, with no other league games being played until the following day, a big crowd is expected.
