Stanmore Stadium, Bayliss Avenue, is the venue for a South Eastern Counties Football League encounter when Erith Town entertain Snodland Town on Thursday evening.
Due to the league having an odd number of teams, the Dockers bring the curtain down on their regular season campaign. However, they have already qualified for the play-offs and they could still earn a home game should they win, and two results go their way on Saturday.
Their most recent game was on Tuesday night when they visited the league Champions, Deal Town, and lost two-nil. They went behind to a Wesley Hennessey goal in the first minute and Jamie Kennedy added a second eleven minutes after the break. That snapped an eight game league and cup unbeaten run.
Visitors Snodland are in a very respectable tenth place in the table, having been promoted at the end of last season as Division One Champions. It’s not their final game as they host Welling Town on Saturday. Their last outing was on Saturday when they were hit by injuries and suspensions going down two-one at home to VCD Athletic.
All of the goals were scored in the first half. George Whitelock put the Vickers ahead in the fourth minute before Taylor Fisher levelled in the nineteenth minute. Charlie Heatley scored what turned out to be the winner three minutes before half time.
When the two teams met at the G. I. Landscapes Stadium back in September, Joe Chalker scored the only goal of the game two minutes before the hour mark to win it for the visitors.
There has also been a meeting between the two teams in a SCEFL Challenge Cup Quarter Final this season, with Erith being the hosts. In that game, Ollie Milton scored a brace as the Dockers won two-nil. His first goal was in first half injury time after Harry Taylor’s effort was blocked into his path. Then, thirteen minutes into the second period he whipped it home after more good work by Taylor.
