Erith Town v Lordswood preview

Erith Stadium hosts a South Eastern Counties Football League match when Erith Town entertain Lordswood on Wednesday evening.

On Saturday, Adam Woodward’s Dockers were in F.A. Vase action, where they travelled to Bridgwater in Somerset. It was a tough exit for them as they went out after suffering the pain of a penalty shoot-out.

It was the third time of trying to play the game and the success that they have had in knock-out tournaments, combined with postponements caused by bad weather has put them well behind in league games.

They have played just seventeen games while others have played twenty four. Although catching league leaders Erith and Belvedere is probably beyond them, they are only seven points behind second placed Rusthall with six games in hand.

However, they will have the pressure of playing twice a week for much of the remainder of the season,

Matt Barman’s Lordswood will also be keen to pick up the three points. They are five points above the relegation zone at present and won’t want to get sucked into the dogfight. They didn’t have a game on Saturday and have gone four games without a win.

Their last game was last Tuesday when they hosted Glebe and were soundly beaten four-nil conceding twice in each half.

When Lordswood hosted Erith Town in November, the Dockers won convincingly. Steadman Callendar scored twice in the first half either side of a goal by James Trueman. In the second half the Dockers added two more, scored by Harry Taylor and Jamie Humphris.

Kick-off is at 7.30pm and with both teams wanting the win, it could be an enticing encounter.
