Erith Stadium hosts yet another Wednesday evening South Eastern Counties Football League match when Erith Town entertain Fisher tonight kicking off at 19:30.
Despite a mounting injury list and a fixture pile-up the Dockers have managed to work their way up to second in the league. Although disappointed to concede a last minute penalty equaliser at Rusthall on Saturday, it was still an excellent point that stopped the hosts from leap-frogging them.
This will be their fourth consecutive Wednesday home match following one-nil victories over Lordswood and Hollands and Blair, either side of a two-one win against Sutton Athletic.
After a slow start, Fisher have climbed up to eleventh in the league and had won three in a row, including a seven-one Challenge Cup thumping of Stansfeld, before losing at home to Punjab United on Saturday.
Paul Vines put the visitors ahead, but Cedric Avelin-Nganga levelled five minutes before the interval. Lea Dawson scored the winner for Punjab eight minutes before full time.
When Erith visited St Pauls Sports Ground back in August, they edged a tight one-nil victory.
Steadman Callender scored the only goal midway through the first half.
In the corresponding game at Erith Leisure Centre last season, the Dockers won three-one despite going behind early to a goal by Tumba Bokula. It took until first half injury time until they levelled when Michael Power converted from the spot.
Dan Palfrey put the hosts ahead ten minutes after the break and Power ensured the points for the Dockers seven minutes later.
Adam Woodward’s team will want a positive result again with neighbours Phoenix Sports breathing down their necks, but Fisher won’t make it easy for them and it could be another tense evening in Erith.
