On Wednesday evening, Erith and Belvedere entertain Rusthall in a Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division match.
Having only claimed one point out of six since beating Deal Town, the Deres have dropped to sixth place and will be looking to bounce back. On Saturday, they were three-nil up at Welling Town but were pegged back and had to settle for a three all draw
Daniel Pepple opened the scoring after sixteen minutes and there was no further scoring in the first half. Three goals in three minutes after the break, scored by Luke Rooney and Tommy Brown, appeared to put them in control but a brace from in-form Adebola Stoyinbo and a goal from Damilola Oni meant that the points were shared.
It has been a difficult time for Rusthall who have managed just one win in 2022 and have lost their last five games. On Saturday, they hosted Erith Town and it looked as if they were going to halt their run of losses until Harry Gamble broke the deadlock with a minute remaining.
They still have a five point advantage over second from bottom Tower Hamlets but will want to start picking up points to give themselves breathing space so that they don’t get embroiled in a dog-fight.
This will be the first meeting between the clubs this season with the reverse fixture due to be played on the last game of the season but both will want to win this time round for very different reasons.
