On Tuesday evening, Erith and Belvedere entertain Glebe in a Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division fixture.
Both teams are in the top six of the league after a strong start to the season. Visitors Glebe are sitting in third place at the moment with the Deres a further three places back although they have played two games fewer.
They both had to cope with playing with ten men for large parts of their games on Saturday. Luke Rooney was sent off for Erith after just ten minutes against fellow promotion chasers Chatham Town. Despite having to reshape and put up a rearguard action they still came close when Henry Dasofunjo hit the crossbar.
As a result, it was a real blow for them when Chatham scored the only goal five minutes into second half injury time and just moments before the final whistle. That came following Fisher scoring a late equaliser at Park View Road last Tuesday.
Glebe hosted Fisher on Saturday looking to get back into winning ways after drawing at Crowborough Athletic last Tuesday and burst into a two goal lead before goalkeeper George Kamurasi was dismissed just past the half hour mark. Outfielder Sam Johnson went in goal wsith no substitute goalkeeper on the bench but despite that, Glebe scored again and Johnson kept a clean sheet.
If looking for a form guide, Glebe have recently beaten both Chatham and Fisher while the Deres claimed just one point from their two games against the same teams. However, Glebe’s victories were both at Foxbury where they have won seven out of seven in the league this season and local derbies often defy the odds so an intriguing game lays ahead.
