Erith and Belvedere host a charity game in aid of the Tommy Crush Foundation and Mike Memorial at Park View Road on Tuesday 18th May kick off 19:00.
Tommy Crush was a teenager who sadly took his own life through depression and the foundation has been formed to try and raise awareness and funding to support teenagers vulnerable to suicide. Tommy was a keen football referee having also played for Footscray Lions and Long Lane
The Kent FA have their pioneering Mental Health Champions programme and are leaders in county FA’s in this respect so teaming up with the foundation became an obvious match.
Mike Memorial is a men’s football team that raise money and awareness for men’s mental health names after Mike Strong who also took his own life.
As a result, a fixture between Erith and Belvedere coaches and SELKENT (South East London and Kent Youth Football League) coaches will play an exhibition match with some names thrown in ‘to make up the numbers’. Gary Alexander and Ben Chorley are expected to do the Deres’ kit whilst Dave Martin and Simon Osborn are likely to be in the opponents line up.
Admittance is free as this game is more about awareness than funding but any donations will be gladly accepted and there will be a bar open for all spectators before, during and after the game.
