This evening, two teams without a league defeat between them meet in the Southern Counties East Football League as Erith and Belvedere entertain Phoenix Sports.
Four wins in four games have put the Deres in second place in the early league table one point behind leaders Stansfield who have played six. Erith have won three on the road, at Lordswood, K Sports and Bearsted. Their only home league game was a four-nil victory over Welling Town, and they now start a run of three home games in eight days.
In the F.A. Cup they were knocked out by Raynes Park Vale in a replay, but their F.A. Vase run has started well with a nine-nil win at East Preston.
Steve O’Boyle’s team have been enjoying cup football so have only played three league games.
They started with a smash and grab win at Erith Town before drawing nil nil at Welling Town, and two-all in an exciting home game against Glebe.
They have won F.A. Cup games at Oxhey Jets, Tunbridge Wells and at home to Rusthall on Saturday, in which they prevailed four-nil. They will entertain Sevenoaks Town next in the second qualifying round. In the F.A, Vase, they defeated Canterbury City away.
That means that in a combined total of fourteen league and cup games, the two teams have suffered just one defeat between them. Add in the factor of it being a local derby, it promises to be an exciting game at Park View Road.
