Entries are now open for the pre-Christmas ten miler, the ‘Miles and Barr Alan Green Memorial 10 Mile Coastal Road race.
This 10-mile race will take place on December 3rd, 2017 along the Thanet coast from Westgate Pavilion to Palm Bay and back.
Also known as the ‘Thanet 10’, this event is a great chance for runners to stretch their legs before the Christmas Party season.
This bracing run along the coast in Thanet is a very popular race and typically sees its 500 places sell out very quickly. The out and back coastal route through Margate is mostly flat and is a good one for those hunting a personal best. But watch out if it’s windy!
As well as receiving a fabulous medal, the event will also be holding a free cake stall for all entrants. So with hundreds of finishers, that will be a lot of cake. Club member, Andy Stevens will be the official race photographer and his photographs will be made available to download for FREE after the event.
Spencer Hoult, Race Director for the ‘Miles and Barr Alan Green Memorial 10 Mile Coastal Road Race,’ said, ‘I would say to anyone thinking of entering the race that it’s a fantastic coastal route with some great views it’s also very flat so an excellent opportunity for personal best. ‘
He added, ‘This year’s charity is again the Pilgrims Hospice. They do such amazing work in the most difficult of circumstances. The care and support they provide have helped so many families in Thanet. As our chosen charity they will receive at least £1 from every entry received so let’s make this race a sell-out!!!
The race will be run under UK Athletics rules. The minimum age 17 on race day. Entry £16- £18 with £1 from each entry donated to a local charity.
