Three players from the Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club have been named to their respective England Junior teams.
Joe Webb a pupil at St Simon Stock School in Maidstone who plays for the U15 Invicta Mavericks has been named as a reserve player to the England U15 Boys teams.
Charlotte Davenport-Jeffery a pupil at Strood Academy, Medway who also plays for the Invicta Mavericks and Ava Dell a pupil at Towers School in Ashford who plays for the U13 Invicta Chargers have both been named into the England Girls U14’s Team. (Pictured)
The players have been trialling since the summer of 2017 and final team selections were made following an intense and gruelling camp held earlier this month at Sheffield Ice with announcements being made the following week by the English Ice Hockey Association and English National Team Programme
The England Teams, Boys U13, U14, U15 and Girls U14 & U17 will all now travel to Bratislava, Slovakia in early April to take part in a week long programme which will see them train and play select teams in a bid to replicate a World Championship event. The aim of the programme is to prepare players for future GB selection and participation in such events
Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club Head Coach Rob Dell said ‘It’s fantastic that we’ve once again got players selected to the National Teams with others having also trialled but narrowly missed out on selection. It’s a great programme to be involved in all the players should be proud of their achievements. I’m sure those having the opportunity to travel to Bratislava will have a fantastic time and no doubt learn a lot about themselves as players and as individuals as the trip is made parent free’.
Two ex- Invicta Junior players who now play for the Streatham Youth Ice Hockey Club were also successful in selection with Eddie Gibson a pupil at the Howard School Medway being named as a reserve in the England U14 Boys team and Louie White a pupil at the Hundred of Hoo School Medway being named into the England U13 Boys team.
