Kent Cricket will be hosting the England Lions as they face an Australian touring team in a four-day match starting on Sunday July 14th.
The last England Lions four-day fixture saw Kent captain Sam Billings skipper the side against Pakistan A in Dubai, with a squad containing Test-capped England Cricketers Ollie Pope and Dom Bess.
The Australian side will be known officially as Australia / Australia A as the fixture will clash with the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final. This fixture may become a key part of their 2019 Ashes warm-up strategy.
The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence last hosted the England Lions side in 2017, where they played a four-day match against South Africa A. Heino Kuhn, who would go on to join Kent before the 2018 season, top scored for the visitors with an impressive century, ending his stay at the crease with a score of 105 after taking a catch during the England Lions innings.
In 2016, The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence hosted an England Lions 50 over tri-series, with matches against Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A. Future Kent captain Sam Billings stole the show against Pakistan A with a knock of 175 as the Lions beat Pakistan A by 56 runs. Kent batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond starred in their next fixture vs Sri Lanka, scoring 171 not out as the Lions beat their opponents by 140 runs.
