Rugby players, fans and the general public from around East Kent will be able to share the training secrets of the England side next month on a special day at Canterbury Rugby Club.
They will find out how it feels to train and talk wit Stuart Lancaster’s players, listen to team talks and experience a visit to the England changing room.
Canterbury are inviting all local clubs to the virtual reality sports show on April 11th which has been devised by England sponsors O2 and it is part of ‘Wear The Rose’ campaign in the build up to this year’s Rugby World Cup.
The show, which is open to all, is housed in a custom built mobile truck using state-of–the art Ocult Rift technology which features an exact replica of the England changing room at Twickenham.
The virtual reality experience allows users to be fully immersed in a multi-sensory take-over and feel as though they are part of an England training session, participating in genuine drills directed by England Attacking Skills Coach Mike Catt.
Surrounded by familiar faces from the England Elite Player squad fans can experience a team talk from Captain Chris Robshaw, get tackled by hooker Tom Young and receive a pass from full back Mike Brown.
Canterbury chairman Jonathan Marsh said: “It is a real privilege to host this exhibition at the club and an opportunity for fans across East Kent to access the experience on their door step.”
“With the Rugby World Cup coming later this year this is a real opportunity for us to promote Rugby and support England in their build up to the competition.”
The show will be open from 12 Noon and on a big day for the club there will be an important National 2 South league game against Cornish All Blacks kicking off at 3pm.
Canterbury supporter Peter Broughton is the man whose initiative brings the virtual show to Canterbury. Peter entered a Wear The Rose competition and came out a winner. The prize was a visit from the virtual reality show.
Admission to the exhibition is free but ground entrance, including the game against Cornish All Blacks is £10.
Under 18s get in free but will asked to make a voluntary donation to the Injured Players Foundation.
