Canterbury based Rallycross driver Tristan Ovenden headed to the North Yorkshire Circuit of Croft for round three of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship and came away victorious.
The Goody Demolition backed driver was looking to extend his lead in the championship. He didn’t waste any time in getting down to business and recorded the fastest times in all three Qualifying Heats.
There was one moment during Q2 that might have dented his perfect points haul where he spun at the hairpin on the loose section allowing his closest rival to gain ground on him, other than that Ovenden looked like he was in a class of his own.
It was no surprise that he secured pole position for his semi-final where he took the flag five seconds up on the rest of the field earning him pole for the final. After a great start he took turn 1 in the lead and never looked to be troubled as he took the checkered flag and the event win.
With the win Ovenden has now opened up a 15-point lead in the championship.
The championship will travel to Pembrey in South Wales for a double header over the weekend of 23rd and 24th June. Track action gets underway at 09:00
Speaking after the weekend, Tristan Ovenden, said: “We are very pleased with the performance at Croft as we had issues in both rounds there last year. Great work, as always, by the team in the heat this time rather than the cold. Huge thanks to them.”
