There is one man who is relieved to be getting back on track this weekend and doing what he is passionate about.
That man is Stuart Emery and he will be at Mallory Park over the weekend and back behind the wheel of his Peugeot 206, for the first time since the last round at Mallory Park.
Stuart was clear that it was tough sitting out the last round of the season at Knockill but is delighted back.
He said: “Missing Knockhill was a tough blow, it puts us on the back foot for the rest of the year now. I have to hope that the front runners in the Championship have some problems at some stage, so I can claw back some points.”
Unfortunately for Stuart he had to rebuild the gear box in his UK Battery Sales car and that took a fair amount of time as he explains.
He added: “The repair of the gearbox was relatively straightforward, it was getting the correct parts that was the problem!
“The replacement part had to come from Italy and it should have arrived just before the Knockhill round. If it had of done, we might of been able to make it. As it turned out the part was late arriving and when it eventually did…. it was wrong! So, we took the opportunity to remove the engine and check a few more things out, before rebuilding everything for this weekend.
“Having a full time job means I can only spend evenings & weekends preparing the car, so most nights its gone midnight before I get in. Luckily, I have a VERY understanding family!”
Stuart is clearly excited to get back on track and feel the surface beneath the wheels again and take care of the unfinished business he has with Mallory Park.
“I always look forward to racing, but this time even more so, because we have had a longer than planned break.
“I feel like I have some unfinished business at Mallory! After putting it on pole for the final last time we was there, I was feeling confident to challenge for the win, however the broken gearbox put pay to that!
“I just need to make sure that all of the work we’ve done is OK, so I’ll take it a bit easier during practice, then check the car out, Assuming all is OK, then I can go for it.
“Last time at Mallory, I didn’t even know where the track went, so this time, I’ll know the lines and braking points right from the off. I’ll also be much more aware of where the loose sections of track get very bumpy throughout the day.”
