Ex Addicks raise cash for Demelza

The South East based sporting events company, Ace Media, has raised the fantastic sum of £1004.00 for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.Dean Kiely, Colin Obee & Steve Brown with the Demelza cheque March 2013

Working together with Dean Kiely, a two times former Charlton Athletic player-of-the-year, Ace Media put on a Charlton Athletic Legends Night with Dean, his former team-mate Steve Brown and former Charlton Chief Executive Officer Peter Varney. All three answered questions on the Addicks at the celebrity fundraiser, on March 1st 2013, held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Bexley.

Dean Kiely, who made over 200 appearances for Charlton, said the chance to raise much needed funds for a charity close to his own heart was simply too good to turn down: “I’ve had the opportunity to visit the hospice at Sittingbourne and Demelza are there for every life-limited and life-threatened child. They work tirelessly and deserve all the donations that they receive. It was a pleasure to raise funds for the charity and I would like to thank Ace Media for giving me the opportunity to offer my support.”

Ace Media’s Managing Director, David Henry, added: “I would like to thank Dean for his help and support; leading up to and on the night. He is a credit to the football profession and, together with Steve Brown and Peter Varney, provided a highly enjoyable night for the loyal Charlton Athletic supporters. I would also like to thank our two event MCs, Jamie Reid and Charlton Live’s Peter Finch, for their contribution on what was a tremendous night.”

Natalie Tegg, Head of Partnerships at Demelza, said: “Charlton Athletic have been loyal supporters of Demelza for many years and we are very grateful for their continued fundraising. A big thank you must also go to Ace Media for organising this event. £1,000 will pay for a day’s care at one of our hospices, allowing a family a real break.”
