After their loss in the FA Cup away to Cheltenham Town, Ebbsfleet United bounced back with a win at home against FC Halifax Town.
With the opening goal from Michael Cheek then followed by a wonderful free kick from Chris Bush, a penalty was given to the home side, scored by Danny Kedwell giving them a 3-0 lead before half time. Cheek nodded in another goal before the time ended.
Fleet boss Garry Hill made three changes as Michael Cheek, Lawrie Wilson coming on and the return of Myles Weston from his international duty.
Due to his injury this made Sean Shields miss the game, the suspended Sam Magri was also out of the squad for the game. Meanwhile, Luke Coulson was not included in the squad. Also, on the bench for the game was Reise Allassani, who’s on loan at the Fleet.
Fleet dominated the first half of the game with more pace and control of the ball, a lot of chances and attempts been created, but went off the target and over the bar. As for the visiting side, Halifax were poor in their first half as they didn’t get chances to trouble the scoreline.
Danny Kedwell headed goalwards after a great cross from Weston but that was saved by Sam Johnson. As Cheek and Weston tried to help set up Drury outside the box, but his shot was too weak and was easily saved by the keeper.
A corner given to Halifax was taken by Ryan Sellers and as the ball curved near the goal, Nathan Ashmore quickly jumped to save it.
A long throw in among two of the Halifax players, enabled Cheek to flick in the goal which saw Ebbsfleet take the lead.
A foul by Kosylo just outside of the penalty area, saw a free kick given to the Fleet as Bush thundered home to make it 2-0 just before half time.
It was a strong first half from the home side and as the second half started, Johnson went to save a shot from Chris Bush but ended up taking Bush down, with the referee giving a penalty to the home side.
Kedwell stepped forward to take the penalty for the Fleet, went straight in the middle of the goal making it 3-0 for Ebbsfleet.
With four minutes extra time added, there was still time for another goal from Cheek as he headed the ball into the net after Bush’s free kick.
The effect of new boss Hills has seen Ebbsfleet scoring some goals, keeping a clean sheet and also three points for the team.
