Bromley started the New Year with a fantastic win away at fellow promotion chasers Ebbsfleet in the only game in Kent to survive the dreadful weather.
The Fleet groundstaff worked miracles to get the game on and it held up well to the constant rain which fell during the whole match.
The home side started the better with a good spell of pressure, Anthony Cook had a shot saved by Joe Welch and sub Michael Thalasitis shot wide. Bromley finally rallied and Ashley Nicholls had a good effort saved by Preston Edwards, before Brendan Kiernan set up the opening goal on 28 minutes with a powerfull run and well placed cross for Pierre Joseph-Dubois to score.
Late in the half Ebbsfleet had a good spell with several corners and Cook shot a free kick just wide.
The second half began with Fleet on top, their closest chance came when Billy Bricknell headed just wide. Despite this pressure Bromley made it 2-0 with their first attack of the half when Jake Reid showed fantastic strength to hold oFf the home defence and beat Edwards from six yards on 55 minutes.
Fleet rang the changes on the hour and Joe Howe fired over for the home side before The Ravens made it 3-0 on 84 minutes when Swallow and Kiernan combined to set up Bradley Goldberg to glance the ball home.
Soon after Reid was denied by Edwards follwoing another fine passing move which belied the heavy pitch and the visiting fans were further lifted by the introduction of Albert Jarrett after over year out injured.
Bromley’s solid defence was finally breached on 88 minutes when Bricknell shot home from the edge of the box to make it 3-1, but it was Mark Goldbergs’s men who took the three points and the plaudits for this excellent display.
