Ebbsfleet United 0-0 Cheltenham Town

Fighting for the £36,000 prize, these two sides will need to replay, leaving Garry Hill’s new side traveling up to Whaddon Road, hoping for a win and qualify for their next round.

For the Fleet side this was an improvement from their previous games, the team still have to get to know their new manager after the departure of Daryl McMahon, but it seems like new man Hill has put his idea across to the team and understanding has formed already – it’s five games unbeaten and the streak continues.

The Fleet made one change from their draw with Barrow last week with Edou Adams replacing Andy Drury and the new boss would have been happy with the way his side started off the front foot ahead against the League Two strugglers.

Corey Whitely had a low 18 yard shot for the Fleet, but got turned behind by the keeper with the best early chance, before halfway through the opening period treatment was needed for Cheltenham as skipper Johnny Whitely went down after a mid-air crash with Danny Kedwell not long after Whitely himself has replaced by Tyrone Barnett.

Myles Weston won the ball and sprinted down the flank and crossed it over to Coulson, with his 12-yard volley going over the bar before Weston again drifted a cross inside the box with a header attempted by Kedwell, the ball went off over to the left post.

Then at the other end there was a huge save from Flinders as Whitely attemped to open the scoring in the 39th minute, but it went out wide which left both team goalless before half time.

That FA Cup atmosphere was dampened as the rain started to pouring down as the second period began and Cheltenham started to fight back, as a ball from a Chris Hussey corner to the near post saw Ben Tozer’s header sail well wide.

Alex Addai made a big impact for the visitors as he subbed on for Kelsey Mooney – delivering a low right cross to Barnett but unfortunately the Fleet side got there first before the visitors even get a chance to score.

It was an intense second half as the referee needed to quickly break up clashes between Ryan Broom and Coulson – Broom received a booking from the referee. T

he deadlock couldn’t be broken as despite another great cross from Addai found Jacob Maddox, again the ball went too high over the bar.

Another unbeaten game for the Fleet and it’s nine now without a win for Cheltenham which results in a Whaddon Road replay.

For the Fleet, they are hoping to get the win in order for them to qualify as well as getting the prizes that they needed due to their financial situation at the club.
