Ebbsfleet part company with Watling

Ebbsfleet United have announced that they have parted company with manager Harry Watling less than three months of being in the job.

Fleet sit bottom of the National League and Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss at AFC Fylde was clearly the final straw and the inexperienced boss has paid the price for a poor start to the season.

Watling took over the Kent side on September 12th following the departure of Danny Searle after a poor start to the new season.

A statement released by the club reads:

“Following discussions today between the club and Harry Watling , it has been mutually agreed to part ways.”

“The club wishes to place on record our thanks to Harry for his efforts since joining in September.”

“Josh Wright will take the role of first team manager going forward, assisted by David Kerslake.”

Josh Wright’s first game in charge will be the National League clash against Barnet at The Hive on Saturday.

Should Fleet keep with the former Gillingham midfielder, his first game in charge at home will be against Gateshead in the league on Saturday 21st December.

Watling leaves the club sitting bottom having won just the once in their 21 games, drawing six and losing the other 14, leaving them adrift at the bottom on just nine points.
