MyFootballClub have come to the support of Ebbsfleet United by making a donation of £18,000 in recent days.
On January 23rd 2013, Ebbsfleet United put out an appeal to members of MyFootballclub and fans of the club for funds to help cover the cost of 2 league games that had been lost to the bad weather and other costs for the month. MyFootballclub.co.uk contacted its members to try and raise the maximum funds that it could before the end of the month.
MyFC have announced that due to donations from members, the early renewal of memberships by people due to renew in February, new members joining the Society and the return of a significant number of ex members to the Society, they have been able to transfer over £18,000 to the club in recent days.
The fans of the club have also responded to the appeal in a superb manner. The Society will continue to fund raise and follow its policy to transfer funds to the club on a monthly basis.
For this season, MyFootballclub.co.uk has donated over £35,000 to the club as well as working with them to try and provide commercial income for the club, eg a group of North American members have sponsored the Nuneaton game in April and many members have purchased the newly MyFC sponsored Ebbsfleet United away shirt.
Keith Handley, Chairman of MyFootballclub.co.uk commented, “The members of the Society have reacted again very quickly to the appeal for funds to be given to the club.”
“This week has again shown that small amounts of money raised by a large number of people, be they members or fans, can provide an invaluable boost to the income of a club at this level of football, this in a week when the government have been looking into the financing and governance of clubs in the UK.”
“We are in the peak period of our membership renewals and have been encouraged by a number of new members joining us in January and by a number of ex members returning to the Society.”
“On February 19th, it is the 5th anniversary of our involvement with the club. We will continue to raise the maximum funds possible for The Fleet on an ongoing basis in our role as majority owners of the club. We thanks fans and members for their support of the club.”
