Bromley are back in National League action on Saturday afternoon when they travel down to Hampshire to face Eastleigh at The Silverlake Stadium.
The Ravens drew 2-2 with Dover last weekend, conceding a 90th minute equaliser after leading 2-0 at half time, but they still sit an impressive seventh in the table on the edge of the play off spots with 36 points from 23 played.
Neil Smith was disappointed with the second half display against Chris Kinnear’s side and will be looking for a response from his players this time out. He opted to play defender Jack Holland up front as the lone striker and keep his two recognised forwards on the bench against Dover and it will be interesting to see if he mixes things up on Saturday.
Last season Bromley lost 2-1 at Eastleigh on Easter Monday, but the fans will remember fondly Jordan Higgs superb goal from 30yards out that lit up the game. When the two sides met at Hayes Lane on the opening day of this campaign the game ended goalless with The Spitfires management complaining about the 3G pitch. The irony not lost on many non-league followers given the problems they have had with their playing surface in recent years.
Eastleigh are having another difficult campaign and currently sit nineteenth in the table with 25 points from 23 matches, despite Richard Hill having taken back over as manager and he is still looking for the right formula to lift them up the table, The Spitfires lost 2-0 at Sutton last weekend having drawn their two previous games.
The two sides are every familiar to each other having competed in the Conference South against each other before being promoted in consecutive seasons to this current level and this should be an intriguing game with points needed at both ends of the table.
