The forward jetted into the UK on Thursday to put pen to paper on a deal for the remainder of the 2013/14 campaign following the departure of Jakub Klima.

Marek Nahlik rose through the ranks at HC Topoľčany in mid-Slovakia and soon progressed to represent the side in the 1.liga – Slovakia’s second tier of professional ice hockey.

He would then go on to spend the majority of his career in the country’s second division clocking up some 363 appearances during spells with his original outfit as well as HK Dukla Michalovce, HC Prešov 07 and HC 46 Bardejov.

In this time the centre-man netted 101 regular season goals whilst playing a hand in 109 more for a total of 210 points. His two most recent seasons have seen him tally 13 goals, 17 assists and so 30 points in 44 league outings for HC 46 Bardejov in 2011/12, for a +/- score of 24, whilst, last term, he managed 12 strikes and was involved in the build-up of 18 more for another 30 points and a +/- of 34 in the colours of HC Prešov 07.

Now though the Slovak arrives in the UK looking to make his mark on these shores having penned a deal with the Invicta Dynamos for the remainder of the 2013/14 campaign.

Speaking on the acquisition of Marek Nahlik, Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed that the non-EIHA trained skater ticked all the boxes of required of an import in the NIHL South Division 1 and that he was looking forward to the Slovak joining up with his new team.

Parrish said, “The roster needed strengthening after recent departures and Marek is exactly the guy we need. He is an out and out centre-man who will fit perfectly on to our second line to further strengthen our attacking options and once again give us strength in depth moving up the ice.”

“At 30 he has vast amounts of experience at a level of hockey that will make him a top performer in the NIHL and I look forward to having him in our line-up very soon.”

“His stats show that he knows where the goal is, has an eye for setting up his teammates and always has a positive effect on his team and I am sure that will only continue with us here in Gillingham”.

Marek Nahlik will be available for immediate selection this weekend after his signing was approved by Ice Hockey UK and his registration with the EIHA was successfully processed.

He will train with his new teammates on Thursday evening before making his first appearance for the Dynamos in Cardiff on Saturday and his home debut against the Milton Keynes Thunder at 5.15pm on Sunday.
